Home Visits

Home visits are strictly for patients whose current condition has made them too unwell to attend the practice, they are housebound or are palliative patients. The facilities for examining and treating patients are much better at the practice, therefore we would prefer you to come in whenever possible.

It is not possible to give a definite time for a home visit, however we do plan the visits after morning surgery. We cannot guarantee which doctor will attend, and you might get a telephone call from the doctor prior to the visit to assess your needs.

Please remember that several patients could be seen in the practice during the time it takes a doctor to do just one home visit, especially when they have several miles to travel.

All home visit requests will be triaged by our clinical team who will navigate your request to the most appropriate clinician to support you. This could be a GP, community paramedic, clinical practitioner or community nurse.

You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
