When being treated by a clinician, there are several types of tests they may ask you to complete for investigation into your medical problem. These include, urine tests, stool tests, swab tests and sputum tests. Once a test has been requested the clinician will provide a form for the test so that the sample can be labelled with the patient’s details for testing at the hospital lab where these tests are sent. Please note we can not provide test kits such as urine bottles, swabs etc. without the necessary forms and they need to have been requested by a clinician. As such if you believe you have a urine infection for instance and want to do a test to check you will first need to contact the surgery via askmyGP to arrange this with a clinician. Another cause of confusion for some patients are FIT tests.
